Peter Lik: From the Edge

For the past few weeks I have been watching a show on the Weather Channel called, "From the Edge" (  It follows well-known photographer Peter Lik ( to various out-of-the-way localities around America to get the perfect gallery shot.  He takes us to places none of us will ever see.  These beautiful breathtaking places provide Peter with the ideal shot but are not always easy to get to.  He braves the elements to find the right spot and sometimes waits for hours for the light to be just right.  Once the setting is perfect, the shot is taken.  He is a bit of a crazy SOB to hike to some of those dangerous locations, but his drive is impressive.  As someone who is constantly trying to improve her photography skills, I have enjoyed watching Peter's tenacity and drive to travel to practically the ends of the earth, fight the elements to get that one and only remarkable shot.  The man has an amazing eye for photography.  Peter's bio

  1. I am a VERY amature photographer! This show shounds fabulous, thanks for the tip!

  2. I'll never claim to have the cojones it would take to be a modern day Indiana Jones of photography. The most dangerous place I ever take pictures is in the subway.

  3. Hi Sis,
I keep forgetting about this special. Thanks for the reminder. I have been rather lax on the photography front due to stress, but have decided today that I need to get my butt out there and do it again. Especially now that I've finally figured out how to change out my lens to the super bring it up in your face lens! LOL It's just so damn hot here! Triple digits and it's only June! UGH!

  4. MM; the show is fun to watch and Peter is not bad to look at either.

Beer; I like watching him go to the amazing places but not sure I have that drive or energy to hike to those places to get the perfect shot.

Tara; it was 113 degrees here today so I know how you feel. I am glad you are getting out and taking pictures again. I know how much you love it.
