The Arroyo Ranch Project 1a

Image
At the end of April, Gary and I went to our land for a visit. The guys were able to go there and get things started. Not everything goes smoothly as they found out. They were able to start with the bathroom and perimeter fence. They are planning on going back in a week or two to finish phase one. We will plan another trip to document it with videos and photos. We are very happy with the progress so far. Ryan is meeting with a man that has shipping containers. He may give us a deal on two 20-foot and two 40-foot shipping containers. Gary and I are thinking of using one of the 40-foot containers along with both 20-foot containers to make a "U" shape house. This house would be our home that we would stay in while vacationing on the ranch. The shape would help with the strong winds and the containers would be great protection from fires. Wildfires are a real threat, so we want to protect our investment. We are hoping that the shipping containers will be phase 2 so we can start ...

The Arroyo Ranch Project

As I noted on an earlier post, my hubby and I, along with two others, bought 80 acres (two 40 acre lots) of land in the northeast part of Arizona. The land is near the towns of St. Johns and Show Low, AZ. We are very close to the New Mexico border with Gallup close to us as well. This month, March 2022, we start developing the land and adding structures to it. On one of our lots, the land is fairly level. That is the area my hubby and I want to put a house and other structures. The view from there is amazing. They will start with that area and grade the ground for our future home. They also plan to add a perimeter fence around the approximately 2 or 3 acres for security from the critters that roam in that area. Along with the fence and grading, they will add a septic tank, water tanks and a building to house a bathroom. It is very important to this gal that a bathroom be up there first, lol. My hubby will go up there for a couple days to see what they do and take pictures for me....

Cruising in the Wash

My husband and friend were finally able to get inside that huge wash on our land in northeast Arizona. He took a video for me, but since it took long, I sped it up. They drove our Tracker through the wash and it preformed fabulous. They gave it a workout. Here is my video:

Our Land: First Visit

My husband, Gary and I have always wanted to buy some land in Arizona to have mostly for a vacation spot. It gets really hot in the summer here, and we wanted a place in the northern and/or eastern part of the state where it is at least 20 degrees cooler or more. Ryan, our granddaughter Kennedy's dad, wanted land too and found 40 acre lots in the NE part of Arizona. We decided to go in with him and his uncle to purchase the land. He ended up buying the last two 40 acre lots. They were going fast. And just like that, we all became owners of 80 acres. We met Ryan, our daughter Katie and granddaughter Kennedy in St. Johns, which is the nearest town to our land. We followed him down a dirt road to get to the location. We didn't know what to expect except that a huge arroyo or wash was running through the center of each lot. That thing was massive. Almost the size of a gorge. We couldn't cross it to the other side, but the next time Gary goes, he and a friend will take our Track...
