Christopher Creek Lodge

On the last day of our Route 66 trip, Sharon and I stayed at the Christopher Creek Lodge in Christopher Creek which is about 20 minutes from Payson, AZ. We wanted the coolness of the forest and look for Bigfoot which has been seen in the area. We like the idea of the Creekside Steakhouse and Tavern being nearby so we can get dinner there. We stayed in the lodge in room #2. It was an interesting room. It had a loft with two twin beds and the stairs were like climbing a ladder. On the main level was a queen bed, table and bathroom. It felt rustic, but comfortable. I think the next time, we will give one of the several cabins a try. Much more room to stretch out. BTW, we didn't find Bigfoot, just a wood statue of him.

Ghost Cocktail

Ghost cocktail:  2 parts vodka, 1 part heavy cream, 1 part vanilla simple syrup - shake with ice and strain. Add 2 parts club soda. Take marshmallows and mix green, red and blue food coloring and dip a toothpick into it and make faces on the marshmallows and float.  (Sharon used mini marshmallows and flattened them with her thumb)

Art Project: Making Ghosts

All the materials you will need. Set a balloon on a glass or cup in various sizes. Use plastic wrap to cover bottom of glass, glass and balloon for easy removal. Cut cheesecloth to size and dip it into a mixture of water and glue. (Medium consistency) Drape cheesecloth over balloon and glass. Shape the bottom to give it a move ghostly effect. You can add a couple of plastic spoons to make it look like the ghost has arms. They usually take a few hours to dry depending on how thick the glue mixture was. After they dry, add eyes and a mouth with black paint. Add them to your Halloween display.
