West of Phoenix on Interstate 10, sits the city of Buckeye.  Today, over 50,000 people call Buckeye home.  Buckeye was founded in 1888 and got its name from discoverer Malin M. Jackson.  Jackson was from Ohio and took the name from its moniker "The Buckeye State" .  He first named it "Sidney" , but because of the canal's importance, in 1910 he had it legally switched to Buckeye.
