Liberty AZ

Around 30 miles west of Phoenix you will find the minuscule unincorporated town of Liberty.  The main part of the community is a couple of blocks square and is home to the Liberty Elementary School District.  Around 63 people call Liberty home.  The town is basically surrounded by Buckeye which inhibits its chances of becoming incorporated.

Urban Exploring in Buckeye AZ

West of Phoenix on Interstate 10, sits the city of Buckeye.  Today, over 50,000 people call Buckeye home.  Buckeye was founded in 1888 and got its name from discoverer Malin M. Jackson.  Jackson was from Ohio and took the name from its moniker "The Buckeye State".  He first named it "Sidney", but because of the canal's importance, in 1910 he had it legally switched to Buckeye.
