Historic Kolb Studio

Hanging over the threshold of the Grand Canyon’s South Rim rests the Kolb Studio.  Inside the building are an art gallery, bookstore, and data about the history of the place.  The store displays the Kolbs’ photos of mule riders at the canyon.  The building is also situated at the beginning of the Bright Angel Trail.

The studio started out as the home and photographic work-space of Emery and Ellsworth Kolb.  It was constructed in 1904 and has undertaken many changes throughout the years.  The building and photos are a tribute to the couple who built and lived in this historic place.
