Hill Street School

While cruising around Globe, AZ, Sharon and I were very excited to come across this abandoned gem.  At first we didn't know what the building was, but started snapping photos.  As we came around the front entrance, we saw the worn out sign above the doors which read, "Hill Street School".  It was built in 1921 and lasted several decades.  Lots of stories circulated about the place being haunted from a psycho janitor who used to attack kids, to a little girl who tragically lost her life in one of the bathrooms on the second floor.  People say she is still hanging around perhaps waiting for the bell to ring.  Whether it is haunted or not, the place was fantastic to photograph.  It would have been awesome to get inside those historic halls.

  1. That was a beautiful building! I love the round part and the shield thingys (technical term!) on the upper walls.

    1. I liked the rounded section of the building. It was my favorite part of the old school.

  2. By far one of the creepiest buildings I've ever been in. When the opened it as a skating rink a few years back as soon as you walk in the vibe changes. It's dark and just down right freaky. Definitely a place to explore

  3. I attended this school rom kindergarten through 4th grade and then again for 7th and 8th grades. I love this building. Our playground was blacktop--no play structures. In a college class on creative playgrounds the professor asked if anyone had ever seen this school with the blacktop playground and said he didn't know how the students ever survived. We made our own play and had a great time.
