The Pumpkin Patch Train

It will be October before we know it and there are many fun events all over the state of Arizona. I will do several posts on some of those events. There are a number of the activities you will need to plan ahead for. The Grand Canyon Railways Pumpkin Patch Train is one of them.

Starting in October, the Grand Canyon Railways transforms into “The Pumpkin Patch Train”. It all starts at the depot in Williams. There you will ride the rails to a confidential location where a magic pumpkin patch is located. The train is the only way to get there.

Part of the adventure is to wear your best Halloween costume for the ride. You pay one fee per person for the ride and other amenities. When you get to the patch, you get to wander around and pick out a pumpkin to take home. They allow you a half an hour to 45 minutes for you to find that extraordinary pumpkin. When you get back to the Williams Depot you get to decorate your pumpkin. There are lots more to see at the depot. You can check out the Haunted Train Car, a difficult maze to wander in, arts and crafts for free until 5:00 pm. Also available inside Harvey’s CafĂ©, you can buy hot drinks, house-made fudge and other Halloween items.
