26 Bar Ranch (John Wayne Ranch)
Immersed in the Hereford’s history in Eagar, AZ, sits the 26 Bar Ranch. It was first known as the Milky Way Ranch in the 1940’s with its big white show barn which housed many Hereford cattle. The barn is now a local landmark. In 1964 the ranch became the 26 Bar Ranch or John Wayne’s Ranch, who was one of the owners. Wayne, along with Ken Reafsnyder and Louis Johnson, his business partners, kept the ranch until John Wayne’s death in 1979 from lung and stomach cancer. Lately, I have heard rumors that Bigfoot has been seen near the ranch. I don’t know if that is true or not, but it would be worth checking out. John Wayne and Louis Johnson
Quite peaceful and serene looking.
ReplyDeleteLooks absolutely beautiful.
ReplyDeleteAlso, now that I'm working out harder than ever, is it completely inappropriate to start calling my pecs "Besh-Ba-Gowah?"
love the pots and basket shot: the hues, the composotions, the exposure. It all works very well.
ReplyDeleteIt was only missing the light scent of the creosote and sweet dirt heated by the noon-day sun and made into a strange southwestern perfume. The first time I came to AZ, that smell was so strange to me. I had never smelled anything like it, a combination of something pine-like mixed with dusty old textbooks in an ancient library.
ReplyDeleteBesh-Ba-Gowah I love to hear Autumn pronounce that
ReplyDeleteI liked those hanging gourds! If that's what I'm looking at anyway. :)
ReplyDeleteBy the way, I searched for and read your Ouija Board posts. You have a pretty good collection of stories here! I can understand how the dried roses in the doorway made April and her roommates move. I'd actually be afraid that a real, alive person had gotten into the apartment! I know the doors were closed and locked, but still! No matter what was in the place, that's scary stuff. So April believes that playing with the Ouija Board made these things happen?
Thanks everyone! It is pronounced Besh-ba-gawa, almost like a baby is saying it. At least that is what the lady in the gift store said. It is beautiful and I am amazed on how this place held up for thousands of years.
ReplyDeleteJustine, April wasn't sure if it was the Ouija Board causing all the paranormal activity but most of it happened after using it. April has some sort of ghostly draw. Strange things have happened to her all her life and still continues today.
I'm relieved you didn't take me this time. I didn't like that little girl ghost at the hotel. She wasn't natural.
ReplyDeleteDale, I don't blame you for not wanting to go. Barbie ended up being a better trigger object. The little girl moved her.
