Perfect Little Town For Zombies

As you know, Sharon and I went on another road trip to spend a couple of nights in Globe, AZ and do a couple of ghost hunts with our POE group.  On the way to Globe, the first little town we run into is Superior.  This town has felt the effects of our bad economy and closing of the mines.

We usually get the heebie jeebies stopping there but we can't help ourselves.  Once we hit the main street and see all the abandoned buildings, we have to stop and take pictures.  I feel the locals think we are nuts taking pictures of their boarded up and empty buildings.  Even the cops have to slow down and stare at those crazy women and wonder "what the hell".  We deal with the stares and press on getting those amazing photos.  Then we quickly get out of town.  This town would be a perfect place to make a zombie movie.  We feel that eerie presence everytime we stop in Superior.

  2. I've driven through Globe and usually thought, "What a dump." I love how you two look at these places and find beauty.

  3. Leo;
    We're freaks. We get excited when we find dumps in the desert. What can I say? There's something about what the desert sun does to the buildings that is as fascinating as what it does to faces. That town definitely gives me the heebie jeebies and it takes a lot to do that to me. I get the distinct feeling that we're not only unwelcome, but we better not so much as stop for gas. I'm sure there are charming and wonderful citizens in pockets of the town, but the main drag, they really detest the lookie-lous. Oh, and I think there are some zombies there. I truly do.

  5. Make sure you take Bandhura via route 88. It's well worth the three-hour drive. (Maybe you could do ghost hunts around the cars at the bottom of the various cliffs)

  6. Angry Lurker, I am sure there are some living amongst the locals, haha.

    Leo, ditto on what Autumnforest said. We usually see the beauty and love the history of these small mining towns. Also, I never thought of doing a ghost hunt around smashed up cars at the bottom of a cliff. I wonder if there is ghosts amongst the wreckage.

    Sis, I wonder if the locals are leary of the crazy middle-aged women that take pictures of their abandoned buildings? They look at us like we are, tee hee.

    Tara, we are still waiting for your visit. We have so many places to take you and will have to narrow down the list. You will have a blast with your crazy redhead sisters.

  11. ABftS, haha yes the zombies had their feast and moved on to another town.

    Shockgrubz, thanks for the follow. This place is even more frightening in person. I am sure the locals wouldn't agree.
