Bell Rock and Courthouse Butte
Sedona, AZ has many amazing and breathtaking red rock formations. If you are driving into Sedona from Phoenix, the first formations you will notice is Bell Rock and Courthouse Butte. Both provide incredible photo opportunities and great hiking trails for those who want to get a closer look. They are located south of Sedona and just north of the Village of Oak Creek.
Bell Rock has the shape of a bell, composed of horizontally bedded sedimentary rock, and considered by some to be a portal into the Earth or a gateway to other dimensions. The elevation reaches 4,816 ft and is a popular tourist attraction.
Courthouse Butte is just east of Bell Rock and is composed of the same materials as Bell Rock. The summit elevation for this rock formation is 5,440 feet.
